In 1964 Derek was born with a slight hearing impairment that gradually got worse as he grew older. His condition remained undetected until his mid 20’s; Derek had adapted to his surroundings by instinctively learning to read body language to compensate for his hearing loss.
Derek is now a respected author, keynote speaker and body language analyst. Having spent more than thirty years exploring the nature of perception and non-verbal communication, he has a comprehensive understanding of what makes the human mind tick.
Derek has acquired an acutely intuitive sense for reading the body’s unspoken messages.
Although Derek works primarily for the mainstream media he also has many corporate clients and individuals that seek to make use of his talents.
Way back in 2012, Derek celebrated the introduction of the Amazon Kindle ‘Fire’ by releasing a short book about body language. Initially the book was written to explore the Kindle architecture and formatting protocols for publishing written material. Derek’s book instantly became an unintentional best seller and was ranked 5th in the top ten best selling body language books, outranking ‘The Body Language Bible’ by Judi James and ‘Body Language for Dummies’. Several years later and the book still generates steady sales.
Derek has worked for the mainstream media for many years analysing the body language of VIPs and celebrities around the world. Derek was called upon to analyse the body language of both Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama when they met at the G20 Summit in 2016. Members of the royal family including Prince Charles & Camilla Parker Bowles and more recently The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have also come under Derek’s scrutiny. David and Victoria Beckham, Beyonce, Angelina Jolie are but a few of the countless celebrities Derek has been asked to analyse during his career.
Derek can work from still photographs, video footage or live events.
Adding a professional opinion to copy will increase integrity and create a fresh and original angle to any news item. Derek can also write full feature articles for magazines and web blogs on a number of body language related topics.

Never before has there been a time when the corporate market has been so competitive. Finding the absolutely right person for the job is becoming increasingly difficult. Job interviews have become more complex as bosses try to invent new ways to identify the perfect candidate for the job.
Derek can be hired to sit in on high-profile job interviews and quietly and discreetly observe the body language of each candidate and offer feedback after each interview.
Do you need ‘live’ body language analysis on TV or radio? Would you like a novel guest speaker to talk about body language on your programme? Do you require specific advice for an article about body language?
